Hazard or Harmless Fun? Injuries Caused by Fireworks -Study at the University Emergency Department (2013-2019)

CONCLUSION: Fireworks are associated with a substantial risk for injuries, especially when used uncautiously. Our study showed that serious injuries mainly affect the hands. To prevent such injuries, systematic data collection on injuries caused by fireworks would be necessary, as many injured patients are hospitalised in smaller, peripheral hospitals or not at all. These data would allow for the development of more comprehensive and detailed prevention strategies that could prevent fireworks injuries.PMID:33906441 | DOI:10.1024/1661-8157/a003628
