Tumor-promoting immune cells retrained to fight most aggressive type of brain cancer

(Massachusetts General Hospital) Using a targeted antibody calledαGITR, tumor-promoting immune cells called regulatory T cells (Tregs) can be reprogrammed into cancer-killing immune cells in glioblastomas. Combining theαGITR antibody with immune-checkpoint-blocking drugs may benefit patients with glioblastomas, the most aggressive and uniformly fatal type of brain tumor.
