CME Sonography 97/Answers: Ultrasound Pathologies of the Hip

Praxis (Bern 1994). 2021 Apr;110(6):301-302. doi: 10.1024/1661-8157/a003647.ABSTRACTCME Sonography 97/Answers: Ultrasound Pathologies of the Hip Abstract. Abstract: Hip pain has a broad differential diagnosis. A clinical examination is not enough to determine the underlying cause. In most cases, sonography helps to narrow the differential diagnosis or to make a specific diagnosis. Furthermore, ultrasound allows a targeted and anatomically precise diagnostic aspiration or therapeutic infiltration. Examples are used to illustrate different pathologies by region.PMID:33906437 | DOI:10.1024/1661-8157/a003647

This study was designed to examine the effect of TEAS for pain relief in women undergoing transvaginal ultrasound-guided oocyte aspiration. This single-blinded, multicenter, randomized controlled trial was performed in China between May 2013 and May 2015. The subjects were randomized to mock TEAS and TEAS. TEAS or mock TEAS was administered 30 min before oocyte retrieval until the end of the operation. The primary and secondary endpoints were the pain measured using the visual analog scale (VAS) within 1 min and 1 hour after oocyte retrieval, respectively. Serum β-endorphin levels were tested in the firs...

ConclusionsThis study demonstrated the feasibility of total laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy combined with vascular resection and artificial vascular graft reconstruction in properly selected cases of pancreatic cancer with vein involvement after neoadjuvant chemotherapy. It is worth noting that skilled laparoscopic technicians and effective teamwork are necessities for safe completion of the procedure.

AbstractPurpose of ReviewThe goals of this review are two folds: (1) to describe the recent understandings on the roles of calcitonin gene-related peptide- α (CGRP) in bone homeostasis and the underlying mechanisms of related neuronal regulation and (2) to propose innovative CGRP-modulated approaches for enhancing bone regeneration in challenging bone disorders.Recent FindingsCGRP is predominantly produced by the densely distributed sensory neuronal fibers in bone, declining with age. Under mechanical and biochemical stimulations, CGRP releases and exerts either physiological or pathophysiological roles. CGRP at phys...

Primary hepatoid adenocarcinoma of the gallbladder is rare. A 67-year-old woman presented with right upper quadrant abdominal pain with elevated α-fetoprotein level. Abdominal ultrasound and MRI showed a tumor in the gallbladder with normal liver. FDG PET/CT showed increased FDG uptake of the gallbladder tumor with retroperitoneal lymph node metastasis. Cholecystectomy was performed. Primary hepatoid adenocarcinoma of the gallbladder was confirmed by histopathology.
