Cutting-edge: New and improved drug to counter spinal anesthesia blues during C-sections

(Cactus Communications) Spinal anesthesia for cesarean section deliveries can cause the mother's blood pressure to drop. To prevent this, physicians routinely administer certain drugs, of which the most common one can lead to undesirable complications in both the mother and the baby. A new study in Chinese Medical Journal shows how a more recent drug that is gaining in use could be the better alternative in terms of reduced complications and also benefit the baby's neurodevelopment.
