Disseminated Peritoneal Leiomyomatosis and Malignant Transformation: A case series in a single referral center

Uterine fibroids are the most common pelvic tumors and the most common benign tumors in women [1]. They are extremely frequent in the uterine wall (25% of reproductive-aged women and 80% of surgically removed uteri [2]), but, unlike their uterine counterparts, their presence beyond the uterus is extremely rare, and only small series or case reports are presented in literature [3 –5].
