Conclusions Outcomes within each life area are heterogeneous. Nevertheless, similarly to young children and adolescents, young adults with DLD face numerous challenges. Although language abilities partly predict some of these outcomes, much of the variance remains unaccounted for and some outcomes are unrelated to this predictor. This systematic literature review has implications for researchers and practitioners to identify promising avenues for research, interventions, and policy development. Conclusions F0 contours play a major role in sentence recognition in both quiet and noise among pediatric implantees, and the contribution of the F0 contour is even more salient than that in age-matched NH children. These results also suggest that there may be differences between children with CIs and NH children in how F0 contours are processed. PMID: 33022190 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
Conclusions The GA-NWR test differentiated between children with DLD and their ACs and LCs. Findings, therefore, support its clinical utility in this variety of Arabic. Results showed that phonological processing factors, such as phonological complexity, may have stronger effects when compared to syllable length effects. Abstract OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of an American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association (ACPA)-approved multidisciplinary team on velopharyngeal insufficiency (VPI) diagnosis and treatment. DESIGN: Retrospective cohort setting; tertiary children's hospital patients; children with cleft palate repair identified through procedure codes. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Velopharyngeal insufficiency diagnosis was assigned based on surgeon or team assessment. Age at diagnosis and surgery was recorded. Difference in age and rate of VPI diagnosis and surgery was analyzed with t test. Multivariate linear and logis...
In conclusion, our study suggests that the effect of acupuncture on poststroke dysarthria may be maximized when manual acupuncture or electroacupuncture is combined with SLT, irrespective of manipulation types. PMID: 33005199 [PubMed]
Conclusions This updated and expanded framework is meant to help guide future research, particularly the design of longitudinal studies, which can lead to a refinement in knowledge about the etiology and pathophysiology of VH-related disorders. Such new knowledge should lead to further refinements in the framework and serve as a basis for improving the prevention and evidence-based clinical management of VH. Conclusions Clinicians have a strong preference for using omnibus language tests. Follow-up test selection does not appear to align with the language difficulties most associated with developmental language disorder. The substantial use of subjective information about psychometric qualities of tests suggests that many SLPs may not attend to the technical meanings of terms such as validity, reliability, and diagnostic accuracy. These results indicate a need for improvement in evidence-based language assessment practices. Supplemental Material https://doi.org/10.23641/asha.13022471.
