Maintaining Good Mental Health for Physicians and Staff

To the Editor The Viewpoint by Fu et al is an important article but needs details about specific approaches. Physician health programs are available in almost every state and offer confidential evaluation, referral for treatment, and, when indicated, long-term monitoring. The concept that surgery is special and that other specialties are not so affected is itself a stigma and could lead to more untreated illness in other specialties.
