Mortality caused by venomous animals in Venezuela (2000-2009): A new epidemiological pattern

Conclusions: Taking into account previous records of animal envenomations in Venezuela, we provided evidence for a shift in the pattern of mortality. Deaths due to centipede bites have increased, making it the third leading cause of envenomation-related mortality in Venezuela. Scorpionism, on the other hand, has declined to the fourth most common cause of fatal envenomations in the country.PMID:33761187 | DOI:10.7705/biomedica.5561
