Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia
Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma is a common subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that is often diagnosed after finding an incidental lymphocytosis on a routine blood count. Key diagnostic tests are peripheral blood morphology and immunophenotyping. At all stages of disease, patients are vulnerable to infections and other malignancies. Treatment is only indicated in those who develop significant disease-related constitutional symptoms, and/or bulky lymphadenopathy, massive splenomegaly, or cytopenia.
