HHS Marks Black Maternal Health Week by Announcing Measures to Improve Maternal Health Outcomes

To mark Black Maternal Health Week, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced actions to expand access to healthcare coverage and preventative care in rural areas to improve maternal health outcomes. HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra announced a Notice of Funding Opportunity for the Rural Maternity and Obstetrics Management Strategies (RMOMS) program and highlighted Illinois as the first state to provide full Medicaid benefit coverage for mothers during the first year after delivery.
