Men with low health literacy less likely to choose active surveillance for prostate cancer after tumor profiling

(University of Illinois at Chicago) A new study shows that in a predominantly Black, urban patient population with substantial social disadvantage, tumor profiling decreased patient acceptance of active surveillance. Men with low health literacy were more than seven times less likely to accept active surveillance if their tumors were profiled.
