Size Does Matter – Intervention in Right-Sided Endocarditis
Right-sided infective endocarditis (IE) is a growing problem due to the increase in intravenous drug use and the rising prevalence of implanted intracardiac devices and chronic indwelling catheters for chemotherapy and dialysis within our ageing population. The paper by Ye and colleagues, in this issue of Heart, Lung and Circulation [1], is a retrospective review of the contemporary experience with right-sided IE at St Vincent's Hospital, Melbourne, Australia, which services a large population of intravenous drug users (IVDU).
