The authors (Constant Dit Beaufils et al. Circulation 2021. doi: 10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.120.050214. Online ahead of print. PMID: 33706538) sought to assess the relationship of myocardial fibrosis detected on cardiac MRI (CMR) to outcome in a large group of patients with mitral valve prolapse (MVP). All patients had MVP and trace to severe mitral regurgitation (MR) and underwent standard transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), CMR, and 24 hour Holter to assess baseline premature ventricular contraction (PVC) burden, with frequent PVCs defined as>1% burden.
