Sarcopenia: Innovation and Challenges

The loss of muscle mass, strength, and function associated with aging, known as sarcopenia, is one of the leading causes of falls and fractures in older persons.1 Due to the growing aging population, it is estimated that the number of people who live with sarcopenia, as well as all the health-associated costs and morbidities, will increase in the years to come. Sarcopenia is fast becoming one of the most challenging medical conditions of the 21st century; however, many aspects of sarcopenia remain unclear or lack consensus.
