Acute Abdominal Pain Caused by Internal Oblique Muscle Rupture

A 52-year-old Japanese male patient was transported to the emergency room because of acute-onset abdominal pain. The pain persisted without waxing or waning, did not radiate, and was not associated with other symptoms. The patient's vital signs were within normal limits. Initial physical examination revealed tenderness at the left lower abdominal quadrant and knocking pain over the left costovertebral angle. Plain CT performed to rule out critical diseases, such as gastrointestinal perforation, aortic diseases, and ureteral calculus, revealed no abnormal findings.
