Blood biomarkers for differential diagnosis and early detection of pancreatic cancer

Pancreatic cancer is a major health problem. Globally, 458,918 new cases and 432,242 deaths of pancreatic cancer have been reported in 2018 [1]. Currently, pancreatic cancer is the fourth and seventh most frequent cause of cancer-related death in Western countries and China, respectively, and expected to become second to only lung cancer in Western Europe and North America by 2030 [2]. Despite decades of research and advancement in disease management, the overall 5-years survival remains low at 5-9% of patients.
