Palmitoleic acid ameliorates palmitic acid-induced proinflammation in J774A.1 macrophages via TLR4-dependent and TNF- α-independent signallings
Obesity, defined by excess body fat accumulation, is an important public health issue. The increased prevalence of obesity, and its related economic burden from comorbidities such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and certain cancers [1-3], has causes global health concerns over the past decades [4, 5]. Studies have shown that adipose tissue can secrete various adipokines that affect the immune modulation of target organs, especially in an inflammatory state [6, 7]. Adipose tissue resident macrophages (ATMs) are recruited by adipocyte-secreted monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1) [8], which plays an important role in regulation of the inflammatory response [9].
