Amiodarone During Ventricular Tachycardia Ablation: A Total Eclipse of the Heart?

Sustained ventricular tachycardia (VT) causes significant morbidity and mortality in patients with structural heart disease.1 While implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) are effective in terminating VT and reducing arrhythmic death risk, ICD shocks negatively impact quality of life and are associated with increased morbidity and mortality.2 –4 Catheter ablation is an effective modality for controlling VT and is superior in decreasing VT burden and ICD therapies compared to medical therapy.
