Correspondence on: “Homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia in Italy: Clinical and molecular features”

I read with interest the article by Bertolini et al entitled “Homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia in Italy: Clinical and molecular features”1. This helpful and important review of interesting patients could have been enhanced by the adoption of formal and precise genetic terminology. While one can appreciate that a number of terms used in that articl e are of wide and longstanding use in lipidology and other subspecialities, use of the correct terminology would have enhanced the publication and better served the readership.
