Evaluation of a Strength-Training Program on Clinical Outcomes in Older Adults

To the Editor The recent DO-HEALTH randomized clinical trial failed to demonstrate a benefit of a strength-training exercise program on blood pressure, nonvertebral fractures, physical performance, infection rates, or cognitive function in adults aged 70 years or older without major comorbidities. While the study excels in its rigorous design, large sample size, and high adherence rate, the ineffectiveness of the strength-training program is surprising and deserves further discussion.
