Biden Administration Takes Action Through HHS to Increase Number of Vaccinators

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) used its authority under the Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness Act (PREP Act) to expand the pool of qualified professionals authorized to prescribe, dispense, and administer COVID-19 vaccines. This action authorizes dentists, EMTs, midwives, optometrists, paramedics, physician assistants, podiatrists, respiratory therapists, and veterinarians, as well as medical and other healthcare students with proper training and supervision to serve as vaccinators.
