A Method for Calculating the Fragility Index of Continuous Outcomes

In the era of evidence-based medicine, interpretation of literature relies on many factors. Perhaps the most important factor is the “statistical significance” of a result, often reported as a p-value less than 0.05. It has become a ubiquitous fixture throughout medical literature: a reductive value that accepts or rejects the hypothesis. However, it is susceptible to abuse and overemphasis. P-values fail to capture informati on about the clinical relevance of results, how robust a “significant” result truly is, and are subject to manipulation.
