Chronic incretin-based therapy in cystic fibrosis-related diabetes: A tale of 3 patients treated with sitagliptin for over 5 years
Cystic fibrosis-related diabetes (CFRD) is a common extrapulmonary co-morbidity associated with cystic fibrosis (CF) affecting 40 –50% of adult patients [1]. Management of CFRD adds a further burden to a patient and constitutes therapeutic challenges [2]. Insulin therapy is recommended [3,4] but iatrogenic hypoglycemia occurs commonly [5], also some patients are averse to an injectable.
