Nationwide prevalence and clinical characteristics of inpatient diabetic foot complications: A Peruvian multicenter study
Diabetic foot ulcers (DF) are the primary cause of non-traumatic amputation among diabetes mellitus (DM) patients, which occurs every 20 s, and an ulcer is present in 85% of the cases [1,2]. Six percent of DM patients worldwide have an active ulcer, and up to 34% of them would have this condition at least once during their lifetime [2,3].
