End to end intussusception anastomosis decreases the risk of anastomotic leakage after neoadjvant chemoradiation and McKeown oesophagectomy

Oesophageal cancer is one of most threatening and lethal malignant diseases worldwide [1,2], and surgical resection has long been used as a major treatment strategy for the disease. In recent years, neoadjuvant chemoradiation prior to surgical resection has been increasingly used in locally advanced esophageal cancer, leading to tumour resectability and an absolute benefit in long term survival over surgery alone [3 –6].
