A comparative study of prostate PTV margins for patients using hydrogel spacer or rectal balloon in proton therapy

Prostate cancer is the second-leading cause of death in American men diagnosed with cancer [1]. 1 in 9 men will be diagnosed of prostate cancer in their lifetime. Thus, it is crucial to develop prostate cancer treatment regimens in its management. Radiotherapy is one of the important treatment modalities for prostate cancer. For low-risk and some intermediate-risk prostate cancer patients, radiotherapy is a treatment that provides effective disease control and good quality of life [2]. Proton therapy is one of these radiotherapy modalities.
