Big biotech, UCs launch $53M effort targeting Alzheimer's, other brain diseases

UCSF and UC Berkeley will receive $53 million over 10 years as part of a collaboration with biotech giant Genentech Inc. and its Swiss parent Roche to research potential new treatments for Alzheimer's, Huntington's and Parkinson's diseases, ALS, autism and other central nervous system conditions.
