UMD partners with industry to improve rainbow trout filet production via genomic selection

(University of Maryland) The University of Maryland was recently awarded a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture to explore genomic selection as a method of increasing fillet quality and yield in rainbow trout. While genomic selection has been widely adopted in livestock programs, it is yet to be adopted in aquaculture. UMD and collaborators across academia and industry are taking the lead in showcasing the benefits of genomic selection in rainbow trout and beyond.
