We thank Dr Ng; the comments focus on the potential inaccuracy of the Bazett QT correction formula at elevated heart rates and the effect of serum electrolytes on the QTc. The references provided by the author mention concerns about the inaccuracy of the Bazett formula at extreme heart rates and the possibility for overcorrection2,3. While we agree that there is a potential for overcorrection of the QTc at extreme heart rates, our patient population had mean heart rates of 107, 117 and 129 bpm in the mild, moderate and severe categories respectively.
