Response to Letter

I would like to thank the members of the American Foregut Society Bariatric Committee for their interest in our publication “Magnetic sphincter augmentation at the time of bariatric surgery: an analysis of the MBSAQIP” [1]. Their careful analysis and thoughtful comments act to highlight the issues raised by our analysis. They correctly point out that placing a magnetic sphincter augmentation (MSA) device at the time of bariatric surgery is an off-label use, and potentially harmful. They also raise the issue of the lack of long-term data to support this practice.
