Scaling up PrEP for Women: What We Can Learn From Title X Clinics in the Southern United States

In the United States, women bear a sizable burden of HIV, making up 19% of new infections and 23% of people living with HIV [1]. Fortunately, rates of HIV among women in the United States have been decreasing for many years, and eight in nine women with HIV were aware of their infection [2]. The South is the center of the HIV epidemic in the United States —44% of new diagnoses occurred here in 2013 [3].
