Towards one standard treatment for uncomplicated Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax malaria: perspectives from and for the peruvian amazon

Current efforts for malaria elimination seek to change a reality where Malaria is still the sixth cause of mortality in low-income countries (Mendis et al., 2009, WHO, 2018, Feachem et al., 2019). Following the track defined by the Global Technical Strategy for Malaria, the number of cases keeps falling, fuelling with optimism the race to elimination. Nevertheless, as we get deeper into the transmission dynamics of the malaria parasites, the challenge of elimination showed up as a conundrum.
