We thank Abiko et  al1 for their comments concerning our article, in which we reported a suturing method with string and clips.2 It is low technology but is a highly effective way to close a large mucosal defect after extensive endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), especially in the duodenum and colon. However, it is necessary to understand the concept and features of the technique, not only for actual closure but also for cutting the string to have successful results.
