Clinical Trial of the New Stent Retriever Tron FX for both Proximal and Distal Intracranial Large Vessel Occlusions
Five randomized controlled trials (RCTs)1 –5 of mechanical thrombectomy (MT) to treat large vessel occlusion (LVO) within 6 to 12 h, and 2 RCTs6,7 within 6–24 h of time last known well have clarified the its efficacy, and acute MT has spread widely and rapidly. However, the target vessels in these studies were mainly proximal large ves sels such as the intracranial internal carotid artery (ICA) and the M1 portion of the middle cerebral artery (MCA). Although the effectiveness of MT for M2/3 portion of MCA has been reported in meta-analysis8 and retrospective multicenter cohort9 studies, RCTs have not yet been conducted.
