ConclusionBariatric surgery in youth is safe but comprised only 3.7% of total MBSAQIP cases from 2015 to 2018. These data should serve as a call to government and healthcare agencies to develop policies and strategies that prioritize bariatric surgery for young people living with severe obesity.
