Dartmouth-invented technology allows doctors to see beam field during radiation treatment

(Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center) With the use of the BeamSite Cherenkov imaging camera system invented by DoseOptics, LLC., radiation oncologists at Dartmouth's and Dartmouth-Hitchcock's Norris Cotton Cancer Center can capture real-time external beam delivery images during cancer patients' standard radiation therapy sessions. These images are used to verify that the beam is targeting the exact area intended, and make necessary adjustments to prevent unintentional exposure to patients.
