Australia: Cybersecurity laws strengthened in health care and medical sector Hogan Lovells On 10 December 2020, the Security Legislation Amendment (Critical Infrastructure) Bill 2020(Bill) was introduced and read into Parliament only a month after its release. The Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 (SoCI Act) currently does not impose any positive security obligations on critical infrastructure assets (e.g. electricity, gas, water and maritime ports), including mandatory cyber security reporting. The Bill aims to strengthen the security of infrastructure in a number of key sectors, including the health care and medical sector.
