Primary Aortoduodenal Fistula: A Case Report and Current Literature Review

An aortoduodenal fistula (ADF) is a rare, life-threatening entity in which mortality approaches 100% unless diagnosed and treated in a timely fashion.1 –3 Primary ADF (PADF) is predominantly due to abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA), as aortic dilatation and compression against the gastrointestinal (GI) tract erodes into the enteral lumen.4,5 Sir Astley Cooper first described PADF and its clinical sequela in 1829, and the first case report was publ ished by Salman in 1843.1,6 Between 1951 to 2010, there were 253 cases of PADF noted.
