East Bay vision giant forms venture to buy Peninsula myopia startup
A Peninsula startup with eyeglasses designed to slow the progression of myopia in children will be bought by a joint venture of East Bay vision giant Cooper Cos. and France's EssilorLuxottica.
SightGlass Vision Inc. — launched five years ago by CEO Tom Chalberg and University of Washington researchers — was bought last month by San Ramon-based Cooper (NYSE: COO). But the deal disclosed Wednesday would create a 50/50 joint venture with EssilorLuxottica to buy the startup from Cooper.
