Endometrial assessment of premenopausal women prior to uterine artery embolization: a cross sectional survey of interventional radiologists

Uterine artery/fibroid embolization (UAE/UFE) is a minimally invasive treatment for symptomatic uterine fibroids and/or adenomyosis. The terms menorrhagia, metrorrhagia, and dysfunctional uterine bleeding have been abandoned by the International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) due to confusion surrounding their use; in their place abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) has been adopted [1]. This is an overarching term to describe any symptomatic variation from normal menstruation incorporating prolonged menstrual bleeding (>8  days), heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB), and intermenstrual bleeding.
