Physcion induces hemolysis and premature phosphatidylserine externalization in human erythrocytes.

In conclusion, this report shows, for the first time, that PSN is cytotoxic to RBCs by inducing hemolysis and programmed cell death which may limit its success as a chemotherapeutic agent.
