Front Cover: Dietary Fiber from Oat and Rye Brans Ameliorate Western Diet –Induced Body Weight Gain and Hepatic Inflammation by the Modulation of Short‐Chain Fatty Acids, Bile Acids, and Tryptophan Metabolism

Mol. Nutr. Food Res. 2021,65,1900580DOI:10.1002/mnfr.201900580Addition of oat or rye fiber to a western diet changes gut microbiota and its metabolites which hold signalling capacity to reduce body weight gain through improved gut integrity and alleviated liver inflammation. The authors observed these changes to be associated with increased SCFA synthesis, diversion of tryptophan metabolism from serotonin to indole production and altered BA metabolism. This is reported by Zuzanna Maria Kundi, Jetty Chung ‐Yung Lee, Jussi Pihlajamäki, Chi Bun Chan, Kin Sum Leung, Stephanie Sik Yu So, Emilia Nordlund, Marjukka Kolehmainen, Hani El‐Nezami in article1900580.
