Commentary: Total Arch Replacement with Frozen Elephant Trunk: One Stop Shop

In this article, Dr. Ho and colleagues from Prince of Wales Hospital in Hong Kong report their single center experience using total aortic arch replacement and frozen elephant trunk procedure (TAR FET) using the Thoraflex hybrid graft to treat complex aortic arch and proximal descending thoracic aortic pathology.1 The TAR FET procedure, popularized by Dr. Sun's and other groups, has emerged as a technique to address a wide range of thoracic aortic pathologies, including 1) acute Type A aortic dissection with pseudocoarctation or malperfusion; 2) distal aortic arch aneurysms; 3) chronic residual dissection; and 4) Type B dissection without proximal landing zone for conventional thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR).
