Although increased bepridil concentration may be a primary cause of prolonged QT, the relationship between serum bepridil concentration and prolonged QT remains unclear. We investigated the relationship between serum bepridil concentration and the corrected QT (QTc) interval in patients treated with bepridil. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective study was performed at the National Cerebr...

This ECG was texted to me with the question" Wellens'? "The computer read was: Atrial Fibrillation, marked ST Elevation. ***Acute MI***The QT interval is short (377 ms, QTc = 399 ms)This is NOT atrial fibrillation: There is sinus arrhythmia with an accelerated junctional rhythm that competes with the sinus node and results in some AV dissociation (no AV block!).  This is completely benign.I responded: This STE with T-wave inversion looks like a normal variant for an African American.  I would check the troponin, but I do not think it is pathologic. Here is the history: The patient wa...

Conclusions: IAB is associated with new-onset AF and death in CRT recipients and may be helpful in the risk stratification in the context of heart failure management. Abnormal PTFV1 did not demonstrate any prognostic value.Cardiology

ConclusionsConduction, rhythm, and electrocardiographic abnormalities were common during COVID ‐19 related hospitalization. Arrhythmic death was associated with age, coronary artery disease, asthma, longer admission corrected QT interval, LBBB, ventricular ectopy, and usage of vasopressors. Most died receiving comfort measures. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

AbstractAimsA substantial shift in the field of pulmonary hypertension (PH) is ongoing, as the previous practice of mean pulmonary arterial wedge pressure (PAWPM) is no longer supported. Instead, aiming for a better estimate of end ‐diastolic pressures (EDP), instantaneous PAWP at mid‐A‐wave (PAWPmid ‐A) or, in the absence of an A ‐wave, at 130–160 ms following QRS onset has recently been recommended. Electrocardiogram‐gated PAWP (PAWPQRS) has also been proposed. The quantitative differences as well as the diagnostic and prognostic utility of these novel PAWP measurements have not been evaluated. We ...

AbstractIntroductionThe impact of atrial arrhythmias on COVID ‐19‐associated outcomes are unclear. We sought to identify prevalence, risk factors and outcomes associated with atrial arrhythmias among patients hospitalized with COVID‐19.MethodsAn observational cohort study of 1053 patients with SARS ‐CoV2 infection admitted to a quaternary care hospital and a community hospital was conducted. Data from electrocardiographic and telemetry were collected to identify atrial fibrillation (AF) or atrial flutter/tachycardia (AFL). The association between atrial arrhythmias and 30‐day mortality was assessed with multivari...

Authors: Aono Y, Hamatani Y, Katoh N, Nakagawa M, Nakamura K, Yazaki M, Kametani F, Iguchi M, Murakami I, Ogawa H, Abe M, Akao M, Sekijima Y Abstract The patient was an 82-year-old Japanese man with no family history suggestive of amyloidosis. He developed bilateral leg edema and shortness of breath and was referred to our hospital. An electrocardiogram showed atrial fibrillation with right bundle branch block. Echocardiography showed concentric LV hypertrophy. An endomyocardial biopsy showed severe ATTR amyloid deposits. A genetic analysis of the transthyretin (TTR) gene revealed a heterozygous c.187C>T missens...

ConclusionThe PIVoTAL is a prospective, randomized controlled trial designed to evaluate the outcomes of PVI alone versus PVI+PWI using the cryoballoon, in patients with symptomatic persAF. We hypothesize that PVI+PWI will prove to be superior to PVI alone for prevention of AF recurrence.
