Obstructive rectosigmoid colon solitary extramedullary plasmacytoma
82-year-old man presented with rectal bleeding. CT abdomen-pelvis revealed obstructive mass lesion at the recto-sigmoid junction (Fig. 1A). Endoscopy revealed submucosal obstructing mass within the rectosigmoid colon at approximately 18 cm proximal to the anus (Fig. 1B). Endoscopic ultrasound (Fig. 1C) demonstrated a large hypoechoic mass lesion with biopsy proven plasma cell neoplasm. Staging F18-FDG PET/CT revealed a solitary hypermetabolic rectosigmoid mass (Fig. 1D& E). Based on imaging and biopsy, following systemic work-up, a diagnosis of a solitary extramedullary plasmacytoma was achieved.
