Initial clinical outcomes comparing frozen versus fresh meniscus allograft transplants
Meniscal deficiency is a major problem for millions of individuals worldwide [1,2]. Loss of between 25% and 30% of either meniscus results in symptomatic knee dysfunction and inevitably leads to potentially disabling osteoarthritis (OA) if not effectively treated [1 –8]. This cascade of events, often termed “post-meniscectomy syndrome,” is associated with chronic pain, time lost from work and related socioeconomic impacts, diminished quality of life, and significant health care costs [9].
