Providing Neonatal Outcome Estimates as an Intervention

To the Editor We read with interest the article by Kidszun et al, which reported a clinical trial randomizing expectant mothers to higher (60%) vs lower (30%) numerical estimates of survival for a hypothetical infant born at a periviable gestation. The authors showed that the primary outcome, the mothers ’ expressed preference for life-sustaining treatment or comfort care, did not depend on the numerical estimate provided. We would like to raise 2 points with respect to interpreting the authors’ findings.
