Caring for Refugees and Immigrants: Challenges and Opportunities

Refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers are moving throughout the world in record numbers, bringing innovation, cultural enhancement, and diversity to their destinations. Refugees and asylum seekers flee their country of origin in hopes of a better, safer life in the country of resettlement. Immigrants travel to a new country for a variety of reasons, many reuniting with family or seeking employment or education. These diverse individuals contribute to society in meaningful ways through the arts, culture, science, and multiple other facets of life, as well as working arduous and lower-paid positions seen as less desirable by many.
