Marquette University 2014 Summer Research Program in Biological Science The Department of Biological Sciences is pleased to announce its 2014 Summer Research Program.  (June 2 - August 6) This program is open to students from all universities and colleges. Participants conduct independent research projects in faculty laboratories in the areas of microbiology, molecular biology, cell biology, developmental biology, neurobiology or invertebrate/vertebrate physiology. The program pairs each student with a faculty mentor who will supervise the student projects. Students are involved daily in their selected research. At the end of the summer students present the results of their research at both a department-wide poster session and symposium. In addition, students attend weekly journal clubs, a workshop on ethical issues in research, as well as sessions on post-graduate education. The program provides informal social and recreational events. Students will receive a stipend of $3750 for the 2014 summer program. Qualifications Students should have completed their sophomore or junior year by the start of the program with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. Minimum course requirements are the completion of a full year of college biology, and general chemistry with laboratories. One semester of calculus, organic chemistry and additional advanced work in biology are preferred, but not required. Students who graduate before December, 2014, are not ...
