Adaptation and adverse responses to contact lens wear

The Contact Lens and Anterior Eye journal continues with this now successful and established tradition of the first issue having a theme. This year it is on adaptation and adverse responses to contact lens wear. Contact lens practitioners are responsible for continuous monitoring of contact lens wear with clinical investigations to determine any short and long term changes to the cornea and ocular surface. The arrival of silicone hydrogel contact lenses more than two decades ago had significantly reduced several complications related to ocular surface hypoxia.
